Tips for a successful Christmas Mini Session in November

Brr! And just like that it’s November and -6 in the mornings! The most important thing for a successful outdoor Christmas Mini session is to stay safe & stay warm. These sessions are discounted to account for the colder temperatures, I want you in and out of your session and back to your warm car as soon as possible.

So PLEASE! Dress for the weather. Brings mitts for cold hands that you can keep on or take off while shooting. Adorable jackets or blankets for easy removal if you need. Trust me I know it’s cold, it is every year! If your child is wearing PJS consider layering another set of clothes underneath (I would go with a white shirt instead of the green I did under Leo’s!)

Taken Nov 2nd, 2021 - Photos of actual location this year!

Fake it ‘til you make it! If your children hear you complaining about how cold you are, they’ll be quicker themselves to do so. It’s 20 minutes of your lives and these photos are forever, make it count.

Wear boots. This location is a short walk up a hill - please wear shoes prepped for snow or walk very slowly. It can be slippery, and as of November 2nd there was already a dusting of snow.

Bribes. I love bribes! Smarties & Skittles are great ones, they’re small enough to be eaten without being captured. Or go with the holiday themed candy canes if you want something in the photos.

Remember to have fun! This is more than just a picture - it’s a memory with your kids. Make it a good one! Bring on the tickles & treats. Let them know they’re doing a good job. Take them out for hot chocolate after! It’s an event to kick off the season.

These are from 2019 at the same location!

These are at a different location but are here to show you some of the fun activities I have planned. Faux snow, pillow fights & snuggles. And yes designed for adults as well! I decided against this location due to the sun position, it’s beautiful but only at a specific time of day.
