Portrait Session Model Call with Jasmin Mock and Emily-May Photography in Kamloops, BC
WOW. Is all I can say.
I found this gorgeous dress on clearance at Marshall’s and couldn’t leave the store without it. It wasn’t quite my size and I thought UGH I’ll pin it. But I wanted to photograph someone that the dress would honour because I meaaaan look at this.
Jasmin is a newer model & photographer in Kamloops, BC. She was amazing to work with. She also really reminded me of WHY I started my business 10 years ago. I showed her a couple back of camera shots and she went “WHAAAAT?!”. And from then on I could see the excitement and the joy. There is something about watching someone own their body that is so… inspiring. Photoshoots are a source of joy, it isn’t supposed to be perfection, its about documenting. I think I got lost in there somewhere.
It became more about editing for me, a head from here, eyes from here, this hand from that one, slim this and that etc. etc. and it made perfection, absolutely it did. But it also made it unauthentic. This isn’t to say I won’t swap a head at request with kids, the entire reason I learned how to do that is because I have kids, the odds of everyone looking and not blinking and smiling are LOW. But, I refuse to be pressured into altering bodies.
Every part of you is perfect. You don’t need to change for anyone.
