5 Spring Family Photo Sessions in Kamloops, BC with Emily-May Photography

If you’re looking for location or outfit inspiration, look no further. These beautiful families did am amazing job styling their kiddos. All of these locations are within Kamloops, BC! When you have young kids golden hour isn’t always a possibility. Some of these were shot in the early afternoon - when that’s the case I advise for locations with lots of natural shade and cover. Squinting eyes can be avoided if you prep and plan accordingly!

This first location is in Westsyde and is a FAVOURITE for this time of year. Although the water levels are high right now so the beach can’t be used (May/June) it is still so versatile! It is shaded and also has a lot of beautiful paths to run about with little other foot traffic.

This location is always a favourite for me - no matter what time of year. Peterson Creek is beautiful in rain, snow or sun. While not every view is usable at 3 pm, there is still plenty of shade to create beautiful memories while beating the heat!

I always feel like I need to explore Valleyview Nature Park more! It is a bit of a hike up (but my kids 2 & 4 can do it!) The view is well worth the trek. You get a variety of lush greens, the classic Kamloops sagebrush AND mountain views. The one draw back is there is little to no sun coverage so ideally you would want to shoot for golden hour or early in the morning!

Another stunning shoot at the spot in Westsyde! It was overcast and raining JUST before this shoot. Sitting in the car I was definitely a little bit worried, but we made it through and captured some BEAUTIFUL SMILES. Not always an easy feat with two little ones!

This session was at Tranquille Creek - it’s very popular with photographers in Kamloops, especially in the fall! Watch for cacti and flooding, it can sometimes be a soggy hike to the further photo locations. Right now it’s VERY green and because of the families amazing outfit choices I chose to neutralize those greens to better compliment their style.
