Oh summer, I miss you so much.

I almost think I saved this to blog for something to look forward to. Larissa and I have done a lot of shoots over the years. One of the things that sets her sessions apart is her involvement in the planning. She almost always brings me something to play off of. She really understands that this is a collaborative thing!

I LOVE outfit changes. I LOVE props. I LOVE action. I want you to be doing something. Photography has evolved so much in the last 15 years - gone are the days of taking just photos where the subject is only looking at the camera. The car is Larissa’s & for those curious it is a ‘69 cougar!

I’ve been lucky to photograph this in Spring, Summer & Fall and just had a photographer rent this gorgeous dress for a beautiful snowy session. This dress can be worn as a wrap around dress or as a cloak/robe. It’s super versatile and could also work for maternity. There is a lot of fabric that can be thrown for epic photographs and it’s also a beautiful black with a lot of depth. I love the full skirt - it is also patterned and it gives a little bit of a matte appearance to it.

This dress can fit S to XL depending on how you would like it to fit. It features a wrap around tie & can be worn as a robe as well. Witchy Vibes during Summer’s Golden Hour - I love the silhouette of this dress. Make sure to pay attention to how it is draping on your client. You don’t want to add bulk which could happen if you don’t pay attention to the skirt.

Motorcycle Couple Photo Shoot in Kamloops, BC with Emily-May Photography

So excited to have shot this after a few month of planning & scheduling (and resting!) It was originally slotted for the beginning of summer but life caught up to me and it never really happened. J & L were the perfect couple for it, you may remember them from a session we did previously. They were the first to attempt the shoulder ride + kiss combo, and with a back injury no less!

This skirt is available through my client closet and its so epic and fun! I love how we styled it, the contrast between the edgy leather top and the ultra feminine tulle. I hadn’t been to this location since last year after a rattlesnake spotting, but it made me remember why it is a favourite. Lac Du Bois grasslands are so stunning, especially in this turn of the season time of year. Couldnt be happier with the results!!

Kamloops Fashion Photographer - Team Collaboration with Emily-May Photography

As published in SHUBA Magazine! This beautiful team collaboration with some of my absolute favourite professionals in Kamloops, BC. A version of the last image was also seen in Harper’s Bazaar UK but was unfortunately altered & uncredited as submitted by Delayne Dixon. Even though there was a written agreement between the photographer and the designer stating that no edits were to be done by the designer, she took it upon herself to edit the images and leave the photographers name off. After lying multiple times and being caught in those lies, including photoshopping an email I was blocked by the designer and told good luck.

I counted myself so lucky to be asked to photograph this concept. I love the collaborative process. I love trusting that every person is there to do their own job and it comes together magically. I approach all of my shoots collaboratively, I don’t like to say no to things. I’ll try it all and if it doesn’t work it doesn’t work.

I think that’s another thing that I find so magical about creative shoots like this, you aren’t shooting for one person or one client. I want to make sure that every vendor and collaborator walks away with something usable for their brand. It’s one of the reason I shoot true to colour with a touch of commercial vibrancy. I’ve worked so hard the last 8 years to find my style & have it work for a large majority of brands and influencers.
