Couples and Fitness Photoshoot with Emily-May Photography in Downtown Kamloops, BC

I feel like this shoot was just yesterday when in all honesty it was months and months ago. But boy oh boy things have been busy and I haven’t had even a second to sit down. What does that mean for my website? It means google and you lovely folks aren’t able to see me to book me. And that sounds like it is no bueno for anyone. So hello google and hello to you my dear friends! I am currently booking for August and would love to capture the things and the people you love.

For this shoot, the couple wanted to celebrate their fitness wins but also celebrate their relationship! This was a mini shoot and about 30 minutes long so we were very active throughout. My biggest trick - the more you are doing the less you are thinking about what your face is doing. So we dive in RIGHT away to capture the love.

Beautiful and Intimate Wedding in Tobiano, BC by Emily-May Photography

I can’t help it, I am a sucker for these smaller wedding packages. You can capture so much in 2 or 3 hours with a great plan! it certainly doesn’t hurt that the location was absolutely stunning every which way you turned.

This was such a relaxing two hours of shooting & I really feel we made the best use of our time together. From the grand entrance down the steps to standing on a ledge to get an entire group photo - I was dancing on air. (Which I guess they did some of too!)

This was my first trip out to Tobiano, I usually shoot out at the Kamloops Lake Viewpoint but with views like these we didn’t need to leave the property. If you are hosting a wedding and trying to decide what type of coverage is right for you - consider a shorter block of time and a schedule!

End of Summer Wedding in Kamloops, BC with Emily-May Photography

My favourite time of year for weddings in Kamloops - September. Still sunny, not usually 40 degrees & fall is just around the corner. This wedding was extra special because one of my best friends was the bride! and Kyle was the best man of the groom. We have all known each other for years and worked together at Best Buy and Future Shop way back in the day.

I was also happy to guide the bride to some of my favourite vendors in Kamloops! My sister-in-law Elishia with Blowfish Hair & her sister-in-law Sarah with Sarah Fisher Beauty for makeup. I also had a second shooter for an hour during the ceremony! It’s so handy to have because it’s the one thing you can’t TRULY replicate. If you can afford it for even an hour, ask your photographer if they allow or provide second shooters on your wedding day. The second shooter I hired was Kyley Michaud Photography, she has been with me for a couple weddings this summer and is fantastic to work with. She shoots with the same brand of camera as I do!

I also made sure to get a shot with the bride and groom - I’ve taken photos of them ever since their proposal at Black Box Container Home! And we’ve only grown closer over the years. Wishing them a lifetime of happiness, always!

Creative Portrait Photoshoot in Kamloops BC with Emily-May Photography

Oh summer, I miss you so much.

I almost think I saved this to blog for something to look forward to. Larissa and I have done a lot of shoots over the years. One of the things that sets her sessions apart is her involvement in the planning. She almost always brings me something to play off of. She really understands that this is a collaborative thing!

I LOVE outfit changes. I LOVE props. I LOVE action. I want you to be doing something. Photography has evolved so much in the last 15 years - gone are the days of taking just photos where the subject is only looking at the camera. The car is Larissa’s & for those curious it is a ‘69 cougar!
